Rob Deech – Q&A Interview
Tell us a little about yourself. Where you are from? How long have you been making Hip Hop?
My names Rob Deech, aka Papaloso, aka Deech Monster, & im coming out of Bergen County, New Jersey. I’ve been working in various studios for about 8 years, but only in the last 2 years I’ve climbed to a serious level. I have been writing rhymes since 10-11 years old though.
What influences you in making Hip Hop?
Honestly, what influences me is my love for the culture & eagerness to compete. & of course there is no better feeling then seeing your music appreciated by strangers. I think that’s the driving force in most artists.
Describe your music, and what separates you from other MCs?
Aggressive. Rhythmically appealing. Hypnotizing, Gangsta, Zero Fucks Given. All in all, I just bring a brand new personality to the game. Being a product of my environment, you can see the role drugs & violence plays in my music. From my abusive childhood growing up without much of anything, to committing crimes, fighting, incarceration, drugs and all the above, simply put, I’ve lived a life you can write a book on. Ya dont even know the half! In due time, I plan on giving my life to this game & becoming the mouthpiece for the millions of people just like me.
Who have you collaborated with? Who would you like to collab with in the near future?
So far I’ve collaborated with some really dope underground artists. My Plug Life fam, Cakes, coming outta Wash Heights, Ny & my man Ogunz coming outta Brunswick NJ. My ANS Studios fam, Jus Dollaz, outta Bergen County as well. Got some songs releasing on Ep’s for artists OTO & Sean Preeme. I also got a wild strip club track called Ratchet with Fly Dantoni out of the ATL. Of course i got a ton more features, so salute to everyone that collab’d with me.
Your definition of “Underground Hip Hop”?
Raw emotion. I believe Underground Hip Hop is complete creativity. It’s where aspiring artists go to see if they are dope enough to hang with the rest of the artists coming up. It’s where dreams come true & where they can also be shattered.
Production wise, who are your influences? Who does your production? And who would you like to work with?
I’m influenced by spacey beat productions, heavy 808’s, classical sounding tunes, as well as eerie dark compositions. So producers like Dr. Dre, Kanye, Dj Premier, Timbaland, Swizz Beats & No id to name a few, influence my music greatly & i would love to work with them in the future. Artists like Jay-Z, Kendrick Lamar, Asap Mob, Lil Wayne, Eminem, & Schoolboy Q, influence my music as well, through their skill at making the most out of an instrumental. I currently get production from various producers such as Cash Jordan, Curtiss King, Lexi Banks, & Tony Fadd.
Any current or future projects you are promoting?
My new mixtape ‘Classic Occasion’ Hosted by Hot97’s Dj Absolut, is out now & will be featured on Datpiff’s homepage August 24th. I also have the music video for my lead single ‘Just Go’ out on YouTube so be sure to check that out. I also have another video coming August 20th. I plan on finishing this summer off strong. Oh, & I will also begin working on my next mixtape August 1st, which should be done by Halloween.
Can you give us a brief description of the creative process of Classic Occasion? Also/ What Was The Idea Or Concept Description About Your Album Art Cover.
My idea was to start getting more into the artistic side of entertainment. Rather then just coming out & spitting bars, i chose to be very intricate & methodical in my songs. I wanted every song to feel complete & unique, but still maintain a vibe throughout the mixtape. I believe I definitely accomplished that & i’m so excited to continue to expand on the work i started with this cd. The Album artwork was actually done during the shooting of my ‘Just Go’ Music Video. It was simply a metaphor for my attitude coming into this industry. I’m here to kill shit.
Where can we find your music and info?
You can find my music on pretty much all music download platforms, datpiff, etc. You can also download my music even easier by heading to RobDeech.com . There you can also find all my video, pics, links to social media, etc.
