Saw Real (Philadelphia) – Q&A Interview

Saw Real Q&ATell us a little about yourself. Where you are from? How long have you been making Hip Hop?

A little about Saw Real…Father 1st, Music Artist 2nd, anything else follows. True Hip Hop Head, Grew up listening to REAL Rnb and Hip Hop. Reason I appreciate and value the 90’s and early 2000’s Era of Music. Life has always been a struggle. Full of Pain, and suffering but I know my blessing will come one day. Until then…I just continue to vent over these instrumentals, everything is always 100. Born in the Corrupted city of Philadelphia “North Philly” To be exact. But I was Raised and became a man in the Olney Section of the city “Deuce S” #Salute. I’ve been Making Hip Hop For about 7 years now. I stayed in the cut on a mission to strengthen my Lyricism, flow and delivery before presenting myself, those close to me knew I was gifted, But Now “It’s About Time” for the world to know… Saw Real Here.

What influences you in making Hip Hop?

My Life Story influences me, been thru a lot; I’ve seen and witnessed a lot… It has to get better for me and I believe it will. My boys are Booked, They call and write me telling me to go hard with this music they believe I will make it that influences me A lot. “FREE JU, MILL$, and SDOT”. My cousin Thee! General also influences me A lot when it comes to making Hip Hop, Besides Being a Great Spirit lifting guy when we have motivational convos about music. He is also A Great Rap Artist, lyrically inclined and levels ahead. He has always been my inspiration to get my lyricism up. True Emcee #Salute #100. Last but not least the overall state of the Rap game influences me. Especially the Eastcoast, Nobody is making music with that Eastcoast sound anymore it’s missing, there is no Identity on this side. Sad to say when Naps and Jay Z leave the Game, there is nobody to pass the torch too. We have nobody holding the East coast down on that level… I just stick to my roots; my era in music is 90’s and the early 2000’s. Reason I embody that sound to the core.

Describe your music, and what separates you from other MCs?

My Music is always about life Situations, different concepts and tempos but it’s always what I like to call “Reality Music”. Everyday Struggles and situations that we’ve all experienced or have witnessed other people experiencing. I feel as though my style and approach is what separates me different MC’s. It’s a lot of “Real” Rappers out here but what they categorize as Real in their craft is the “Guns, Goon. Drugs, Killing” Etc. Me I’ve never any of those in any of my rhymes that I’ve written. I am The Difference… It’s all 100% Reality, music you can feel, and learn lessons from.

Who have you collaborated with? Who would you like to collab with in the near future?

I’ve collaborated with artist such as Thee! General, Hy Deff, “Alpha Boy Musik CEO/Artist” Sonny Minder, El bueno, G Stacks. Those are a few artist that I’ve worked with. Talented Emcees right there #Salute.
I am Philly to the Core and I’m big on Eastcoast Hip Hop so a couple artist I would like to work with is Philly’s own Spade-O, MS Jade and the Great John Legend. I would def like to work with Ab-Soul too. He’s a very dope artist too. Last but not least, Slaughter House… Those are some sick Dudes over there. Underground hip hop is where it’s at. I’m not worrying about this mainstream artist.

Your definition of “Underground Hip Hop”?

To me underground Hip Hop can’t really be defined. When it comes around u understand it, recognize it. But most importantly you FEEL it. You just KNOW underground hip hop when you hear it

Production wise, who are your influences? Who does your production? And who would you like to work with?

Production wise, I don’t really have an influence I tend to gravitate to the producers wit epic Sounds. Usually I Know a beat if for me when I play it and it tells me what to say on it. I’ve literally went thru 100’s of beats and prolly found 1 diamond. It is like that but I’m willing to search. Nowadays producers seem to only make the “New wave”. “Swag” type instrumentals. Which I can’t stand but aye, get ya bread. I’ve recorded over Antoine Cunningham Instrumentals, Gibbs, Charli Brown, and Coatse. I can’t give yall all my diamonds lol but yeah those are a few #Salute. I would like to work with Rick Rubin and Dr. Dre one day. That would be dope for Philly, Eastcoast in general.

Any current or future projects you are promoting?

Yeah I’m Working on my mixtape “It’s About Time: Prospect Premonitions” right now I already have 3 Singles out for it. “Dedication to My Motivation”, “I got you” Feat. Frenchly and “Dreams of being Fresh” Feat. Hy. Deff Just go to any one of your favorite music apps and download they’re all over them. Sonny Minder “The Magnum Negotium Theory” Should be out real Soon that’s a dope/powerful Project I’m On There too. My man’s Hy Deff Just Dropped his tape “Death to the Wack Rappers” Full of substance and is very lyrically driven. I def recommend it to Hip Hop Heads. Thee! General is working on Multiple Projects but “Free S.h.i.t” should be the first one to drop. Very talented Emcee who just rips everything, a perfectionist. One shot “RIFLE” #Salute. More info Soon, Stay in tune…
Can you give us a brief description of the creative process of your Mixtape- “It’s About Time: Prospect Premonitions”
It’s About Time: Prospect Premonitions is basically Self-explanatory. “It’s About Time” Symbolizes the fact that I’ve had So Many people waiting For YEARS for me to complete this Project. They literally started calling me Detox lol. Well, “its About Time” to let them know that I’m here…appreciating them waiting on my craft. It will be worth it. “Prospect Premonitions” Symbolizes the visions and dreams that I’ve had throughout the years. Visions of me stepping into the rap game and instantly becoming a god, a great, a PROSPECT…Once I drop this tape Maybe it will happen just like I’ve been seeing. Then it wouldn’t be a dream. Simply just a PREMONITION… We’ll have to see, it will be a classic project though for sure.
