Scott Sharpe (Toronto, Canada) – Q&A Interview
Tell us a little about yourself. Where you are from? How long have you been making Hip Hop?
My name is Scott Sharpe which is also the artist name I go by. I’m 25 years old and I grew up in a small town about an hour north of Toronto called Oakwood. I started making music at a pretty early age, I think i was around 13 or 14 when me and a couple of buddies started to mess around recording over some industry beats for fun.
What influences you in making Hip Hop?
I continue to make music because it is something I love to do, and i believe that one voice can make a big difference if enough people are listening to a good message. I enjoy making real hip hop songs and having fun with lyrics. But my true passion is pouring my heart out on an instrumental and making songs with a meaningful message.
Describe your music, and what separates you from other MCs?
I make music for myself and also for all the people who might take something from it, I don’t make music to get rich and be famous. I will never be anyone but myself, I would not change who i am for any amount of money.
Who have you collaborated with? Who would you like to collab with in the near future?
I have collaborated with artists like Peter Jackson(Ajax), Richie Sosa(Toronto), Patrick Christopher(Toronto), and my biggest feature would have to be Classified(Nova Scotia), who has a verse on my song “This Is Canada”. I grew up listening to class so it is really dope to have collaborated with him.
Your definition of “Underground Hip Hop”?
My definition of “underground “Hip Hop”.. Real Hip Hop…. you don’t hear much music in the main stream these days that I would consider real Hip Hop.
Production wise, who are your influences? Who does your production? And who would you like to work with?
I have had the same producers since i started making music, Matt Spearin(Spy), and Patrick Christopher. I have worked with other producers like YoungK, and JStaffz but for the most part I keep it in the group!.(The Camarilla)
Any current or future projects you are promoting?
I recently released a 14 song album called Population900 which has had a great response so far, I am very happy with how to album turned out and plan on pushing it as much as I can. The album can be found on datpiff.com for free or on iTunes for purchase. I also have a song off of the mix tape called “Rock n Rolla” being released on the Coast2Coast262 mixtape hosted by SchoolboyQ.
Can you give us a brief description of the creative process of Population900? Also/ what was the idea or concept description about your Album Art Cover.
My album Population900 was actually created over a couple of years. I had been sitting on a lot of music and felt like it was time to release a project so I worked hard to record some good new music and put together the track list. The title “Population900” I got because I grew up in the small town of “Oakwood” which actually does have a population of 900.. so that is the idea behind the artwork.
Where can we find your music and info?
My music/videos can be found on www.Youtube.com/scottsharpemusic , Facebook.com/Scottsharpemusic and I am on twitter @ScottSharpeCA .

I would just like to give a big shout out to my team ”The Camarilla”, my family who supports me in everything I do, and all of the people out there who been supporting me and my music! much love y’all!!
