Sir Louis Green – Q&A Interview

Sir Louis GreenFor the fans who don’t know already, tell us where you are from. Where did Hip Hop start for you?

I am originally from Nigeria but currently reside in the DC/MD/VA metro area. My first real introduction to Hip Hop was the Public Enemy record “Fight The Power”. I was able to relate to the struggle in the music because of the current state of affairs in Nigeria especially dealing with the social injustice present in our community.

What are your greatest influences that inspire your craft?

My influences come from my life experiences. I grew up using poetry as an outlet for my mental and physical struggle to better express myself among my peers.

Describe your music, and what separates you from other MCs? How’s the Maryland Hip Hop scene in your opinion?

My music is different in so many ways but the best way to describe it would be to call it a “Hustle Flow”. An arrangement of thoughts based on my lifestyle. When it comes to setting me apart from my peers I would say my drive and strive have been the key factors while at the same time bringing me closer to them. I am a firm believer of networking for my networth especially when it comes to the Maryland Hip Hop Scene which is alive and thriving with underground artists ready for the mainstream.

Production wise, who does your work? Who would you like to collaborate with?

Mic Kartel our in-house engineer does all our engineering. He handles most of our production but we also reach out to other producers for a different sound and feel. If I had to pick someone dead or alive to collab with it would be Johnny Cash. I feel our sounds would clash the right way.

We promoted your single “Like a Boss” recently, what’s the info on the mixtape “King Of My Dreams”?

The mixtape is actually a reflection of my present state of mind. To me no one can control your destiny more than oneself so I can either choose to play by someone’s else rules or champion my thoughts for a better outcome in life. The Mixtape was originally supposed to be available for free on datpiff but will soon be available for download on Itunes, spotifty and other major sites.

Any more videos in the work?

I actually have a video coming soon in the next couple of months. It’s a collabo from The Money Green Team produced by Mic Kartel. The track is called “That’s My Drank”. It features Mic Kartel, 2Geez and myself.

Where can we find your music online?

I am a one stop shop kind of guy and prefer not to confuse consumers so I built a website for my team. It’s called www.itsmoneygreen.com . You can find our photos, videos and more music from everyone on #TheMoneyGreenTeam

Any shout outs?

Shoutout to anyone putting in the right kind of work for their worth.

Lastly, Your definition of “Underground Hip Hop”?

Underground Hip Hop to me is the birthplace of originality. As an independent there are two things you can do 1. crash and burn or 2. adapt and learn to reach the mainstream.
