Tell us a little about yourself. Where are you from? How long have you been making Hip Hop?

A King and I are from Northern VA. We’ve both been on the grind together since day 1. Started making music professionally for about 3 years now.

What influences you in making Hip Hop?

For as long as I can remember we’ve always been listening to hip hop. After I graduated high school, A King and I formed the group The Troopahs. We take a lot of our influences from our city and our family. We strive to make that east coast music representing where we came from.

Describe your music, and what separates you from other MCs?

Unlike a lot of other Hip Hop artist we put most of our focus on our flows and lyrical ability. I make a lot of the beats so most of the record has an original sound.

Who have you collaborated with? Who would you like to collab with in the near future?

We usually try to keep features in house. I don’t really like working with anybody outside of the circle besides A King. Not only that, but we rarely find other artist our level who can keep up. Otherwise, if you think you got what it takes hit up my inbox. My next EP scheduled to drop sometime this year will have more features. I’m not mentioning any names yet.

Your definition of “Underground Hip Hop”?

Underground Hip Hop means raw and uncut hip hop. Nothing big on the radio but probably better than what’s playing on it. The purest of hip hop.

Production wise, who are your influences? Who does your production? And who would you like to work with?

Hit-boy, J Dilla, and boi1da.
I’m in the lab 24/7. Whether its cooking up a piece of production or putting down a 16. I only produce for The Troopahs. Maybe in the future will I leak/sell a beat till then its only for the family.

Any current or future projects you are promoting?

If you enjoy real hip hop or are an avid hip hop fan you gotta go cop our EP “The Family”. It Just came out last month. We’re bringing real lyrics, original flows and heavy hitting beats. We been working on the record for a long time. You can’t find music like that anymore. Its up on Datpiff and Sound cloud or just look up Omar Get Em. Go cop it!

Can you give us a brief description of the creative process of “The Troopahs” Mixtape? Also/ tell us a little bit about the concept and idea behind your Album/Mixtape Cover Art.

We started working on the EP about a year ago. I was in the steps to becoming a producer/Mc. This is actually my first project that had a beat I produced on it. A King was in the lab with me the whole time so we just started picking our favorite beats and went from there. This whole thing is for the fam back home in the 703. With that in mind, we kind of took it in a personal direction as far as lyrics go. The vibe fit perfectly and after 9 months of hard work the tape came out better than I could have imagined. Thanks to our engineer Dj Rob we mixed and mastered everything to max quality. We killed it.

Along with rap and producing I’m also a graphic designer. The cover art is designed by me. I wanted that paradise feel because we made most of the EP in the spring/summer. It also resembles peace because around my area we have a place called great falls which had a lot of influence on us at the time.

Where can we find your music and info?

Our music is everywhere. If you want to see our main page visit SoundCloud.com/omar-get-em. All The troopahs and Omar Get Em’s music will be posted here upon release.
