Album Review: The Killing Joke (Houston, TX) – Tales from the Homunculi
Swear to god, I have never heard any album like “Tales from the Homunculi” before in my life. This EP is highly influence in Horror/Death Rap and being from Texas!!, we did not anticipate a Hip Hop group reppin like this. With my experience in Hip Hop I was personally influenced by NECRO who introduced me to Horror/Death Rap so it feels good that there is a group in Houston delivering the same type of Hip Hop. Honestly we really dont know much groups out there anyways that spit Horrorcore Hip Hop anyways so thumbs up to The Killing Joke!! Horror core Hip Hop might not be for everyone out there but for the Hip Hop fans that like stuff like that well this EP is for you.
Lets get into the EP. Right out the gate, tracks like “Locked N Loaded”, “The History Of…” & “The Homunculus” are probably the tracks that really stood out to me the most due to the dope lyrical content. Clearly the whole EP has a lot of funny humor that honestly “Stands Out”… I caught myself laughing a few times on a few lines in the project.
