Earl Sweatshirt – Molasses (ft. RZA)

This track, in addition to Between Villains, shows first hand that Earl is an unconventional and evolving artist. I’ve been a fan of his since he was 16, and he only keeps getting better. I can see him being a legend one day if he continues sharpening his skills in this fashion. He’s only been in the game for a short time, so consider what a decade of experience can do to his already potent abilities. This is one of my favorite songs off of Doris, but it still would’ve been better if RZA had a full verse; however, RZA’s contribution is surprisingly effective for how few words he has to use. Molasses is off of Earl Sweatshirt’s new album Doris. My other favorite tracks on this album which I’ve also reviewed include Sasquatch, Hive, Whoa, Chum, and Knight.

“99 problems all gone in that one joint.”

I also did an in-depth album review of Doris for those interested.
