SONG REVIEW: MF DOOM – Bookfiend (prod. by Clams Casino)
MF DOOM – Bookfiend (prod. by Clams Casino)
Let me start off by saying that MF DOOM’s incredible lyricism really makes Bookfiend what it is. He spits some of the best verses I’ve heard from him in a while. You’ll definitely want to read along with the lyrics at least once to fully appreciate this song’s inherent complexity. As you might guess from the track title, MF DOOM describes his undying love for books, but in an incredibly profound and roundabout fashion with extremely well structured metaphors and double entendres. I also love how Clams Casino can produce some of the trillest beats ever, such as for A$AP Rocky‘s outstanding song Palace, to concocting this hauntingly psychedelic instrumental tailored to an abstract hip-hop artist like MF DOOM. He’s unarguably one of the best new school producers in the game.
“How you know octagon? Or much less Tetragrammaton? To get the good stuff you need to get out to the Amazon.”
