Oluse – “Thorium” (Album Review)

New artist from Los Angeles, CA Oluse gives us a new album “Thorium” for all of us to vibe to.  The picture was painted from the very beginning with Age of The Universe which presents a nostalgic boom bap real Hip Hop track telling everyone they can conquer the world!  Everyone has their own journey to success, but the key is defining what success is to you.  His style has a great combination of deep consciousness, hardcore and alternative Hip Hop all in one!

Monazite Sand” starts with a classic sample and hard hook!  Nothing but true bars on this track!  This track brought me back the golden era for sure!    The high intensity track keeps the track balanced with hard gritty beats and reflective boom bap cuts. This track sets the bar high with heavy lyrical wordplay, the listener easily becomes attuned with the evolution of the setlist.  Reminds me of an old Nas record from back in the day!

The song Melting Point 7800c (Gasp) has to be my favorite track on this album!  brings me back to soul music by reflecting his thoughts and inner struggles. Those twisted key samples is melodic and complements his lyrical content.  This project is a fantastic example of a solid independent Hip Hop album for sure!  The underground Hip Hop scene is rapidly growing by the day, and clearly Oluse has set is mark for sure in So-Cal!  Follow him on IG, FB & Twitter.
