Spyder Deuce – “Ghetto Mills” (Mixtape Review)

Los Angeles is in need of new rising stars to maintain the Coast mainstream appeal. Here to answer the call is the City of Angels very own Spyder Deuce. Born and raised in the 310, Spyder Deuce gives the mainstream a real tourist guide to the real Hollywood Hills with the release of his new mixtape, “Ghetto Mills“.. Unfiltered, uncensored, and in your face, Spyder’s new mixtape is a project that will set the tone to reawaken the West Coast sound that is one of the most influential cultures in the world.

‘Ghetoo Mills’ is a 18-track mixtape that takes fans into the ugly streets of Los Angeles. Speaking on the PJs, the hustle of growing up in the Ghetto, and the aspirations of pursuing the “Ghetto Millions”. While many look to the negative of ghetto, Spyder Deuce displays a different picture using the same negative pieces on every track, making it enjoyable to be from the Projects.

Spyder Deuce has a sound that is built around high energy, affiliated wordplay, and flair for the theatrics. Addicted to chanting ab-libs and gun reference sound effects. Spyder has a charisma that is loud but not annoying like most recording artists who vocally scream for attention, for him, it’s undeniably exciting.

Lyrically, Spyder Deuce has a style and sound that can hypnotize the world as he even refers to himself as the Pied Piper on the track, “Turn It Up”. While not necessary, as Spyder solid lyricism is exhibited the entire project. The mixtape features some well-known West Coast features like AD and Blvck Moses, who both deliver noteworthy verses; however, the features just result as fillers for appeals the interest of the general public.

Production wise, Spyder Deuce has a great ear for beat selection that wraps around his presence like a mink coat. Sticking with a ground level L.A. sound enlisted by Larry Jayy and K.E. on the Track, Spyder Deuce is backed with a gritty sound that also feels like a house party throughout the entire project. The beat gives an energy money made to motivate fans to get to the bag. A vibe perfect to get one through that hour-long traffic jam that the 405 creates on a daily.

While ‘Ghetto Mills’ doesn’t step outside it’s bounds, it is a solid project because it goes hard in the paint. It’s rowdy, it’s bouncy, and it’s build around representing a community. It’s unapologetic about its roots and rallies the Coast like a protest rally. Spyder Deuce educates foreigners with a signature lingo and subliminal coding that is only for selected trendy crowd to rock out to. Spyder exhibits a sense of pride throughout the entire project that the new generation will become addicted to instantly as the recording artist’s sound is a escape plan that the Coast loves to take.
