Strong A.R.M. – “That’s Gangsta” (Single Review)
New York Hip-Hop is very stern against change in the culture. Often unhappy with the new school; however, artists like Survival Crew Records recording artist Strong A.R.M. make it difficult thanks to his brand new track, “That’s Gangsta”.
A limbo-based track, Strong A.R.M.’s “That’s Gangsta” depicts a suggestive title of gritty street Hip-Hop; however, the title disguises the tracks EDM-meets-Hip-Hop experiment. Strong A.R.M. describes himself as a multi-genre act that indulges in multiversity of music that ranges from the festival influenced dance to the golden age vintage boom boom bap. “That’s Gangsta” is an accompanied track in-part of a 2-pack release from the recording artist.
Taking a risk combining hardcore street level lyricism over heavy dance experimental production. The way that Strong A.R.M. moves throughout the track, stays in pocket with the punchlines, strikes brilliantly with the in your face Hip-Hop, is gangsta. Making you move your feet, Strong A.R.M. connects various fresh metaphors to the track’s title. A.R.M.’s wordplay is Mayweather smooth over the beat.
The track’s production is a house vibe that will be familiar to some and intriguing to others. Not a traditional combination but an acquired taste that is a nonstop thrill from beginning to end.
