The Chillionaires – “Who Wants To Be A Chillionaire” (Mixtape Review)
The Chillionaire’s drop their new mixtape “Who Wants To Be A Chillionaire” from start to finish the production on this album was precise along with the confident high-octane lyrics that drew me in instantly. Each song had its own signature sound that can stand in its own lane. The most interesting thing while listening to the trio was the mix of originality that the new school delivers as well as their old school references, fans who love Lil Wayne will dig this album.
Chillionaires consist of King Gray, Sky Scraper & Ruciano, throughout the album each artist drops in and out fluidly showing great chemistry within the group. “Chasing Chicken” is that fun-loving type of music you don’t forget, made to show inspiration & persistence. King Gray single within the album was titled “Put You On”, it was melodic and raw at the same time which is always a great combination, especially when the mix is on point. Mr. Fly Guy is another track that stood out to me. The lyrics were not only real but witty, showing the emcees broadened perspective within the turn up. Not only will the HIP-HOP enthusiast love this record but I can see it being a part of fans everyday playlist because the introspection will allow it to live.
“Pieces is Hittin” The whole squad comes out for this one featuring Young Thrilla, the turn up is real as each bar is hitting its mark. “Too Cool” was that standout song I loved the sonic sound and potential of visual. The heavy autotune maybe could be condensed but overall good song. The instant feeling of”Chillion Bars” was waking up in a 5-star hotel overlooking the city finally feeling accomplished of one’s goals. The beat behind the lyrics sets the tone and each Emcee delivers bombs.
The album keeps rolling as “Everyday” is the next smooth composition that caught my ear. The mixtape keeps flowing as it starts off mellow and ends with a dual perspective. I can see this being the most relatable track on the album and being played just as the title indicates “Everyday” because the hard-hitting lyrics are real and have to be acknowledged. The album ends with “Who Wants To Be A Chillionarie” I like the concept because they’re actually speaking on building wealth and not giving in, but showing the contributions to the elites success .
