Formed in 2007 from Trenton, NJ. AcademY is the next up incoming Hip-Hop group that emerged with a sound that is influenced by Up-North Gangsta rap, daunting Down South trap beats, Soulful melodies, and lofty “Back-Pack” lyrics, which the group simply poises as “alternative hip-hop”. Post College Graduate group, debuts their lead single “Skyscrapers” from their sophomore mixtape “The Grow Up Plan” . The Grow up Plan depicts the transitional phase of young men trying to become GROWN MEN. Financial stability, social responsibility, emotion relationships/fidelity, and straight “sophisticated ignorance” cumulate to the meaning of The Grow up Plan.
