John Robinson & PVD – “Off The Wall”

OFFTHEWALLV2PVD just released his Instrumental Jazz LP ‘Technicolor HI-FI’, and his music has been featured on such MTV2, VH1, NBC etc, and he also recently released the full length LP entitled ‘Lux DeVille’ with NJ emcee 8thW1.

John Robinson (aka Lil Sci) has been tearing up the underground rap scene since the early 90s, as a member of the ground breaking Scienz of Life crew, and has worked with MF Doom, Danger Mouse, J Rawls, Flying Lotus and more.

The duo previously released the cut “Miles & Trane” from ‘Modern Vintage’ on a limited 7″ in late 2012.

The teaser video for this track (just one verse!) was shot at PVD’s studio in Jersey City in June.  Watch it below!

John Robinson speaks on the album title and the video:  “‘Modern Vintage’ describes the sound but more so the process of how the album was made. The music was made with a modern style and approach of today but with vintage technics of times before us. Most of the sounds you hear on this record have been played live, however the style in which things were done it gives you the feel of other Hip Hop records that have used samples to bring out these sounds and instruments in a body of music.

Modern Vintage spells it out… We are looking back to a Vintage era to gain insight and perspective, to move forward in these Modern times and teach the world about the music before us.

This video gives you an inside look of the creation process that was put into Modern Vintage. The vintage instruments like the Moog and Rhodes and other outboard gear on down to the lyrics for every song being created in the session from what ever vibe and mood was spelled out that day.”
