Kenny Blacc – “Oops I Did It (Right)” ft. LoVel (Official Video)

Kenneth Kendell Lewis Jr. also know more popularly by his stage name Kenny Blacc is a 23 year old Bronx, NY native. Blacc began rapping at the age 11 and developed much of his style from rappers such as Biggie Smalls, Nas, DMX and Busta Rhymes. His love and inspiration of rap music began with his avid interest in poetry.  At a young age Kenny wrote poetry and discovered that language was the most potent method of expression.

Born to Jamaican parents, Kenneth Cedric Lewis Sr. and Yvette Armstrong, much of Kenny’s music includes cultural caribbean nuances. Growing up with only his father due to the tragic passing of his mother shortly after his birth, Kenny’s music chronicles much of his life lessons. A large part of Kenny’s musical poise stems from the support of his father and his father’s girl friend Christine Mayne, who served as a mother figure in his life after the passing of his biological mother.

Kenny attended The High School for Math, Science and Engineering, a specialized high school in Harlem, NY.  During his high school career Kenny was encouraged by his father to study engineering.  While excelling as a student Kenny’s interest towards rap wavered and he now dealt with the pressures of growing up and establishing himself as an adult.

Following an undergraduate degree in Information Technology from Syracuse University, Kenny began a career as a NYC public school teacher. His love for kids, and his need to see change in the NYC public school system propelled him to be be an active figure in his students lives. Realizing that much of his advice to his students was to follow their dreams, Kenny listened to his own words and revived his rap career.

Reconnecting with an old high school friend, LoVel, Kenny reached back to his roots and produced his album Missed My Train, that is to be released in the summer of 2014. Kenny’s music lives to speak about his journey and serves as knowledge to any individual who has ever had a dream and wished for something more. “Let music be the vessel that brings all people together”.
