M.A.C (Macca Muirhead) is an Independent 17 year old MC/Producer from Sydney, Australia. The son of one of Australia’s pioneering Hip-Hop DJ’s, Drew Muirhead, he was introduced to Hip-Hop at a very early age. Since then he has carried on the family tradition by writing and producing some of the most replenishing and youthful tracks to come out of Sydney city. Despite his age, he carries the 90s influence that brings back a nostalgic yet refreshing vibe. Recently he has teamed up with DJ Black Diamond (Producer of ‘Nikes on my feet’ by Mac Miller and ‘All I Do’ by Logic) to create the song “Eye 2 Eye”.
“Eye 2 Eye” tells the story of a young man having the ambitions to make an impact, yet having to accept the fact that he still has to attend school and carry on with his daily routine. The smooth flows and lyricism give you an in depth idea of his thoughts, ambitions and way of life. “Eye 2 Eye” takes you on a journey of a young man’s ambition to make it in the heart-breaking music industry.
The video directed and filmed by Ant Mcphail is unlike any other video out there. We view most of the clip through 8mm footage, which depicts M.A.C’s various activities. We view scenes of his daily life at home, in the classroom, on the train and roaming around Sydney City streets with close friends. The clean-cut footage filmed at Splendour in the Grass Festival and Vivid Light Festivalfeatures the bright lights and pristine colours which give you an idea of the life he intends to live through his art.
It’s great to see the younger generation taking influence from the greats and bringing that 90s essence that hasn’t been predominate in Hip-Hop the last few years. This young man has a very promising future ahead of him and will not disappoint those looking for something new and fresh.
