Rayna Zemel is a music producer and audio engineer currently residing in Los Angeles. Originally from Philadelphia, Zemel began her career first as a guitarist and found her passion for producing surpassed her love of performing. She began working primarily as a recording and mix engineer for both up and coming and major label artists.

Zemel describes her own music as pop influenced hiphop and electro. “Huge, epic sounding hooks are my soft spot. The modern landscape of music changes so rapidly, however, a great melody can mean the difference between an average song and an amazing song.”

When asked about her experience as a woman in the male dominated field of audio engineering, she responded, “I think women in general tend to be intimidated by the technological aspects of production; this is why I see so many women who focus only on being songwriters, artists, and performers. I’m proud to be one small handful of women leading the charge.

Plus, I’ve always been somewhat of a tom boy so this is really just ‘business as usual’ for me.” She has spent the past 4 years honing and perfecting her craft; working with such artist as Dawn Robinson (En Vogue), Isis Salem (Thunderheist), Graph Nobel (Idle Warship), and Israeli actress, Meital Dohan. She spent the winter and spring of 2011 as a recording engineer for Atlantic Records and left to teach music production and remixing at The Los Angeles Recording School.

The end of 2012 brought a serendipitous meeting between Miami based emcee, Acafool, and renowned DJ, producer, and all around musical technology wizard, Henry Strange. Realizing the potential for some real magic to happen, Zemel began sending Acafool instrumentals and 3 weeks later, “You Deserve a Medal” (Y.D.A.M.) was conceived.

Y.D.A.M. is a trap influenced hip hop song with Zemel signature “big pop hook” sound. With additional production and mixing from Henry Strange, the song is club banger and certain to get everyone on the dance floor shakin’ and movin’.
