Rough City is more then a hip-hop group. This musical ensemble is a collective of fans, family, friends, and local artists who share similar interests and passions. Rough City is the definition of the DIY culture and is a grassroots flagship within the Los Angeles music community. The three emcees Blax One Ill, Space Pimpin and lll Speak had crossed paths at parties and clubs in the Pasadena area over the years. It wasn’t until 2011 that Blax , Ill Speak, SP and DJ/engineer Dango Beats joined forces with producer J. Sprague to show the city of Los Angeles that Pasadena is a force to be reckoned with. Rough City quickly developed a die-hard fan base stretching far beyond Pasadena’s city limits. Rough City has had the opportunity to share the stage with some of hip hops most legendary artists such as GZA, Raekwon, Kurupt, Dead Prez, Red Man & Method Man, Too Short, Tha Eastsidaz, Dj Quik, Daz & WC and Bone Thuggs N’ Harmony.
After countless hours in the studio, Rough City’s freshman effort, “End of the Beginning” launched June 24th 2014. So keep your ear to the ground for a new sound, and an eye out for what’s up with this promising young hip hop group.
