Shane MauX – “Lush”

Though his heart is his hometown of Ann Arbor, MI, rapper/singer Shane MauX (Belikos, Duk Duk Goose!) has called Brooklyn his home for the better part of a decade.

Shane’s first solo release, the “Come Alive” EP is a departure from his previous projects.

As the frontman of former rock band, Belikos, he played gigs including the Virgin Mobile Free Fest, CMJ, Webster Hall, Brooklyn Night Bazaar, Piano’s, The Knitting Factory, Santos Party House, The Bitter End, and the Utica Music Festival. He shared bills with legendary artists including Ludacris, Mos Def, Bad Brains, Chromeo, M.I.A., Pavement, LCD Soundsystem, Joan Jett, and Fishbone.
As one half of rap duo “Duk Duk Goose!,” he played dozens of shows in the NYC Hip Hop scene and released two mix tapes and several videos.

Shane’s new EP, “Come Alive” (produced by Justified Noise and mixed/mastered by Dr. Alex Neuhausen of Lilly Wolf) spans issues of love, hatred, violence, rooftops in the summer, women you love to hate, women you hate to love, revolution, and parody (or self-aware embrace) of misogyny and materialism. A versatile vocalist, Shane’s flow ranges from flirty (Come Alive) to aggressive (jan) to comically twisted (Monsters), with the occasional surprise of fluid singing. His combination of wordplay, sincerity, and a variety of vocal styles prompts comparisons to Childish Gambino, Kendrick Lamar, and Andre 3000, but his unique background and story set him apart. Shane plans to promote the new EP by releasing a series of music videos, starting with the single “Lush.”
