Famup Muzic – Q&A Interview

FamUpMuzic
– Lets get right into the names of the members involved in FamUpMuzic.  Are all you guys from Texas?  How did all you guys link up to begin with?

FamupMuzic consists of brothers T The Truth and 450. Originally we are from Oklahoma but have spent so much of our lives in Texas to where it’s just like a second home to us. We even got our start in Texas in the city of Huntsville back in 2008. Being brothers, the link up happened naturally I guess you could say.

– Lets the fans know what sets you guys apart?

The biggest thing that sets us apart from other artists is that we refuse to make music we wouldn’t want our own kids or family members doing or being a part of. That is why you won’t hear the typical money, cars, h**s music from us cause honestly we aren’t ballin’, driving fancy cars, or interested in groupies lol. Our focus is to use the gift we have been given to promote love over hate, encourage, motivate and give hope, not continue to contribute to the same stuff that destroys our hoods, communities, and people.

– What type of direction are you guys trying to take the crew?  Staying independent, getting signed, etc.

Right now we are signed to independent label Rubo Records and don’t foresee that ever changing. We love the freedom we have being indie which allows us more control during the creative process to be true to us and not a character made-up by a major label. Plus we can offer what most major artists can’t and that is free music we give away on our website.

– Let’s talk about the recently released album “Soul Muzic”.  How are the fans gravitating to it?  Any songs you recommend for the first time listener?

The response has been very humbling! We’ve heard that it has saved lives, inspired people to change their way of living, brought back the feeling of true Hip Hop and tons of other positive feedback. We wanted to make an album that from start to finish you could just put it on and let it ride and for the most part, everyone is saying we have accomplished that which is a pretty big feat to pull off having 18 songs on an album. Favorites so far have been “Motivated’, ‘I Choose Life’, and ‘Love Unconditional” but everybody says the entire album is loaded with hits.

– We notice the heavy thought inspiring samples and beats in the project.  Who got down on the production for you guys?

We had a bunch of producers on this album. From Tone Jonez to Ear 2 Tha Beat, J-Rum, and even T The Truth produced a track and some other great producers as well! The focus going in was to create the environment for the album with the beats then bring it all to life with the concepts and lyrics.

– In one word, how do you describe the new project?

One Word? SUBSTANCE!

– We do notice that SXSW is going on in Austin.  Are you guys rocking this year, or planning to in the near future?  Any events or promotion in the near future, or just focusing on music?

We definitely wanted to bang out SXSW this year but we kept our focus on the album. We wanted to be sure that everything was as close to perfect as can be so we passed on SXSW…this year. Next year we will be performing and a lot more! We do have a show coming up at KickButt Coffee and Booze on April 11th out in Austin and a tour is in the works now for May/June timeframe. We’ll add more details on the site as they become available.

– Of course, this is a #UGHHBLOG interview and we love asking this question.  What’s the definition of “Underground Hip Hop” in the crews own words?

Underground Hip Hop to us means staying true to yaself regardless of the money, fame, and bright lights. It’s about representing the voice of the people that at most times gets drowned out by the noise of mainstream society. It’s a lifestyle, a statement, a movement and more importantly MORE THAN JUST RAP!
