J. Jackson (Detroit, MI) – “The Sequel” ft. MarvWon (Official Video)
Between finishing up his debut project and teasing his audience with his #ThrowJackTuesday installments, J. Jackson has returned with the co-sign of yet another underground icon from his hometown, Detroit. Joining the ever-growing list of rhyme endorsers is battle veteran and founding member of the rap collective The Fat Killahs, Marv-won. Marv-won joins J. Jackson on their ode to the underground “The Sequel” as they toast to their local roots and their personal experiences coming of age in different eras of Detroit Hip-Hop.
The track, produced by sound-smith Chanes, opens with Jackson and Marv trading stories about their respective stomping grounds before they launch into roughly three minutes of trading bars about escaping the trappings of blue collar living. From there, Jackson opens things up with a verse giving us a peek into his mind as he briefly touches on how his dreams fuel his grind in pursuit of his rightful place in rap royalty. Following up Jackson is Marv-won, opening his verse with immediately establishing his status as an underground legend. Marv-won continues his verse as an instructional for those who have the heart to consider coming for his spot. The track is three minutes of bravado and taunting as J. Jackson and Marv-wonwelcome all challengers.
The world is patiently waiting for J. Jackson’s debut album but while he leaves us waiting for what’s to come, check out “The Sequel”.
