ScHoolboy Q (Los Angeles, CA) – Man Of THe Year

Kendrick Lamar canceled his performance for GQ’s Man Of The Year party due to their less than stellar article on him, but this song actually has nothing to do with that. ScHoolboy Q takes the liberty of claiming himself the man of the year in the animatedly boastful fashion he regularly loves touting. It’s a fairly straightforward song, especially with the somewhat repetitive nature of the chorus, but the general vibe is really damn enjoyable nonetheless. I absolutely love the plush sample taken from the song Cherry by Chromatics, and how it was reworked into this smooth yet gripping head-nodder. You’ll find Man Of THe Year on his upcoming album OxyMoron, which should be getting an offical release date sometime this week.
