J-TriGG – “Raise The Stakes” (Mixtape)
This is the 5th full-length studio recorded album from J-TriGG. “Raise The Stakes” is a compilation of some of Trigg’s best work yet. From old-school underground beats, to new school remixes of Kendrick Lamar’s Money Trees, you will notice a smooth blend of hip-hop throughout the project. It’s tough for the true hip-hop heads to find music that takes you back to the days of Chicago Rocks, yet still has a relevant impact. An ode to De La Soul’s 1996 classic, Raise The Stakes takes you back to a point in time where hip-hop was vital to the culture, but relays the message in a modern way. In many ways it is more vital now than ever before. From the violent streets of Chicago, to the cluttered airwaves of rap, take some time away from the madness to cool out and listen to this album.
Coming from a city that is deep rooted in hip hop and currently pulsating with new artists, J-TriGG is an emerging MC with a style of his own. Originally from Evanston, Illinois, TriGG has been involved with music since the age of 9, playing the trumpet in the school band, high school orchestra, and jazz band.
Despite his diverse musical background, Hip-Hop has always been a major part of TriGG’s life. “I was rapping and battling in middle school showing that I could hold my own, even though I was whiter than a ghost. I used to mess around with Frooty Loops, making beats and recording over them. When I sold my first beat CD, I realized the power of music and my abilities as a hip-hop artist.” In 2009 J-TriGG released his first studio recorded album entitled, “Through The Window, To My Soul”. Although TriGG has been in and out of the music scene, focusing on finishing his degree in Communication Science and Rhetorical Studies and maintaining a full-time job, he has found the time to release 5th full-length albums.
Looking to gain listeners and new opportunities for his lyrical talent and ear for music, J-TriGG’s new mixtape, “Raise The Stakes”, makes quite the impact. The project is being released independently under Honest Music Ent., bringing together artists from the Midwest for fans worldwide.
