When you hear the city Compton in relates to music, you think gangsta rap, such as NWA, Ice Tea and The Game but there is a lot more than just gangsta rap coming from this California city. This Compton, Ca raised artist named Brian James born December 9 took his love for hip hop and his culture and combined the two to give birth to a soulful hip hop sound of his own, with influences such as Tupac, Talib Kweli, Most Def and DMX. Also being formally known as Wing with a much more street sound, Brian James decided to take a different approach with his music expressing his knowledge on relatable subjects and real life issues. Brian James has released several mixtapes such as Eat or Be Eaten Vol. 1 in 2007, following My Music My Life in 2008 and the most recent Eat or Be Eaten Vol. 2 in 2010. Brian James has performed at over more then 20 different venues in the Southern California area such as The Key Club where he opened up for legendary rap artist and producer Dj Quick, House of Blues, BB kings, and the Pico Rivera Sports arena where he performed in front of crowd of 2,000 plus and amongst other legendary hip hop artist such as Smooth B, Red Man and Fat Joe. With the anticipation of his new EP “Life On Mute” scheduled to drop in December 2011, Brian James hopes that this extended play of his music helps people reflect and improve on real life issues and situations they have encountered. Brian James is a prominent soulful hip hop artist who writes with a passion and a will to be heard.
