AbnormL Injustice – Q&A
For the music junkies who don’t know who AbnormL Injustice is, let them know? Where are you from? How did your Hip Hop brand come about? What does AbnormL Injustice mean?
I started as a DJ over 20 years ago (still do). Then about 10 years ago I started making beats with my MPC 1000 all the time. I am from California but live in Bradenton,Fl at the moment near Tampa Bay! My name is a sign of the times I think people have always lived in so much injustice. Plus I am a lover of Golden Age Conscious Hip Hop. Hip Hop in its raw form can change the world.
We notice you represent real Los Angeles Underground Hip Hop. We appreciate you holding it down in LA and all over the globe. How important is it for you to be able to rep LA, We feel this is where real Underground Hip Hop was created “Project Blowed”!
Thanks man! Very important. When I was a younger man I was lucky to go to the Good Life a couple of times in 93. Project Blowed has kept the underground fresh and alive!!!
Congrats on your latest project “Long Ago MMXVI” (EP). Feel free to breakdown the creative process of the project. (features, production, etc). Where can people find the project?
Thanks! I started off with song and beat ideas then I would send to Myka, he would lay down verses and send back to me. I then built more around his vocals. It was so much fun!!! On bandcamp or my .com
We are huge fans of Freestyle Fellowship, you collabed with one of the best MC’s and pioneers out of that group. How did it come about? And how was the vibe in the studio when you worked with him.
Myka is Sam Jackson in Pulp Fiction my wallets the one that says BADMUTHAFUCKER!!! I reached out to Myka about my next project called Psychology of Therapy Thru Dreams. I was so humbled he was down!!! We made Loneliness ans Sadness and started recording more songs!!! Here we are with a Ep and Film!!!
With this industry being so fast pace, being so busy promoting yourself, what advice do you have to those who are barely releasing their first record , and trying to break into the business?
Don’ be afraid to fail or look like a fool. Keep making music!!! As much as you can.
How does social media playing a role in AbnormL Injustice’s success? How are fans / supporters helping your movement?
Still working on that myself. Work in progress I guess.
With this being an underground hip hop site, we always ask this important question. What is your definition of “underground hip hop”?
Progress, expression, art…….Its life to some of us. I make music cause I have too not to make lots of money!
