B. Moore – “Q&A Interview”
-Tell us a little about yourself. Where you are from? How long have you been making Hip Hop?My name is b. moore. I am a rapper from Florence, Texas. I recently moved Norman, Oklahoma. I’ve been rapping for about 3 years now. I record and mix almost all of my music. I have been engineering my own studio for about 5 years now. I have released two mix tapes and hope to grow my fan base greatly this next year.-What influences you in making Hip Hop?
I get my musical influences from all over the place. As far as rap I really like Hopsin, Eminem, and mc chris. My biggest musical influence though has to be Tom Delonge from Blink 182. Everything he does just speaks to me, I love the message he conveys in his music. Another huge influence is Claudio Sanchez from Coheed and Cambria. His story telling ability is phenomenal in my opinion. I just love the way all of these guys make music. And when I listen to them, it just makes me want to make my own music so badly.
-Describe your music, and what separates you from other MCs?
Personal. Everything I write is very specific to me and the way I’m feeling or what I’m thinking at the time. As far as what separates me from other MCs, I would say my voice, I haven’t really heard any other rappers that sound anything like me.
-Who have you collaborated with? Who would you like to collab with in the near future?
I’ve collabed with a few people. T. J. Hickey from Boston. He did a verse on the title track to my first mix tape “That’s Life” I would definitely recommend his music. He’s doing big things in Boston. Also, I collabed with Aye Cue from Houston on my first mix tape. He’s a very passionate artist and takes his music seriously. He’s definitely on his way up. I urge everyone to look up his album “Genre 2080” on Hot New Hip Hop. Not your average underground album that’s for sure. I also did a little work with an rapper from Texas originally, now living in Anchorage, Alaska named Aaron Trotter. He’s a lot like me as far as just starting out in his career. He’s got a very catchy flow. He was featured on my most recent mix tape “Red Lights & Vanilla Spice”. But my two favorite rappers to collab with are my two best friends Doak Hensley and Anthony Dibble. They’re the ones that really got me started in all of this. It was their idea to start rapping and they helped me discover my talent and have supported me the entire time. The amount of Collabs I want to do is a long list. My favorite part about rap is probably Collabs. But that’s tough, I think Watsky and I could make a freaking jam though. He’s getting pretty big though. I’m gonna have to keep working hard to make something like that happen.
-Your definition of “Underground Hip Hop”?
That mic in the closet, uncomfortably small, way too hot studio session. Haha. Really though, Just the guys doing the best they can with what they have to do what they love. Whether it is that small home studio, or if you’re fortunate enough to have a larger studio or afford to go to a professional studio, If you’re making something you love and pushing it yourself with your small crew just trying to make a name for yourself, that is underground.
-Production wise, who are your influences? Who does your production, and who would you like to work with?
As far as beats, I get mine from a lot of different guys, all very talented. The majority of mine come from Nasty Beatz from Boston and Cruso from Flowermound, TX. If you’re a rapper and you want fantastic beats check both of those guys out. They make the beats to pour your heart out to. As far as who I want to work with, there are a lot, Clams Casino has some of the best beats I’ve ever heard. I also really like Diplo and Nik Nikateen. Chuck Inglish also makes some really dope beats. I could keep going but there are a few. A lot of dope producers.
-Any current or future projects you are promoting?
Right now I am promoting my sophomore mix tape “Red Lights & Vanilla Spice” It released Dec. 3rd 2013.
-Can you give us a brief description of the creative process of “Red Lights & Vanilla Spice″? Also/ what was the idea or concept description about your Album Art Cover.
I dropped out of college and started working about a year before I started the writing for this Mixtape.
The whole creative process behind “Red Lights & Vanilla Spice” is just a collection of stories and thoughts about the way I see the world after that year. And what I need to challenge myself to do in order to get where I want in life. I found out fast that nothings gonna fall in my lap, I have to work very hard and consistently to accomplish my life goals. And even if I do fail miserably, I can still die happy knowing I did try my hardest to do succeed. But it’s still stressful to think that I may never amount to anything and I struggle with insecurities til it forces me to give in to my demons. Then comes “The Odyssey” which is a 4 song story about a hallucination trip I had after trying Shrooms for the first time. It started subtle. Then quickly grew into a less comprehensive message to everyone around me but everything I saw and said made perfect sense to me. After feeling good for awhile, there was a point where I saw the grim reaper standing in the corner of a bedroom, which was just a poster my friend had. Haha. But he just stood there and for like a minute or maybe an hour. I’m not sure, it just freaked me the fuck out. I didn’t know what was going on. And my mind just ran wild with dark thoughts. Until someone came and talked to me which calmed and then the shrooms started to wear off a little but I had this entirely different out look on life then what I had like 6 hours earlier.
