E One – Q&A Interview
Yo E ONE, tell us a little about yourself. Where you are from? How long have you been making Hip Hop?
I’m for the Washington Metropolitan area, PG County to be exact. I have been making music for over 10 yrs now.
What influences you in making Hip Hop?
Music runs in my family. Most of my Uncle’s are musicians. So it was one of those things where it’s all I knew and it came natural. I have loved hip hop since I can remember. I was the kid watching music videos when everyone else was watching cartoons.
Describe your music, and what separates you from other solo MCs?
My music varies but most of all I would say the overall message is motivation and progression. I believe you can do anything you put your mind to if your willing to put the work in. I believe I’m different from most mc’s because I have the range. I could do a song with DMX or Migos and fit right in. A lot of MC’s are in a box which is not a knock on anyone I just feel I’m a versatile.
Who have you collaborated with? Who would you like to collab with in the near future?
I have not done a lot of collaborations. These days people want you to pay and I don’t believe in that at least to a certain extent. If it’s not organic and for the love I would rather not do it. But my list of who I would like to collab with is too long to name so I will give three. TI, Joe Budden, and Rick Ross.
Your definition of “Underground Hip Hop”?
To me underground hip hop means hip hop that has not been heard or embraced by the mainstream. But has a core group of people love it and prefer it.
Production wise, who are your influences? Who does your production? And who would you like to work with?
It’s so many producers now but at the moment I’m really feeling Mike Will, and Justice league. For my production, I use a variety Taz Taylor, best kept secret and my in-house producer Royal District.
I would like to work with any producers who have hot beats. If I had to pick one I would have to go with Justice League.
Any current or future projects you are promoting?
I have another project coming early next year. I am not sure of the name yet.
Can you give us a brief description of the creative process of BUILT FOR THIS Mixtape? Also/ what was the idea or concept description about your Album Art Cover.
I went in to the project just making songs keeping the good ones and scraping weak ones. It’s a long process making “good music” I really wanted to make sure this was my best project to date and I believe I accomplished that. The concept for “Built For This” is just saying I’m built for any and everything in life the good and the bad. All of the obstacles you go through to get where you want to be. I can’t be stopped and I cannot be fazed it’s all apart of the journey and I’m built for it. The concept of the cover is just representing how I’m built with the gears its showing like the inside of how I am put together.
Where can we find your music and info?
You can find my music on Datpiff and Spinrella. I’m also on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
