Q&A With New Britain, CT Rising Hip Hop Artist Kawan

Hey Kawan, we would like to thank you for your contribution to underground Hip Hop and keeping the culture alive! I really enjoyed your new mixtape “Realness101 vs The Pain Reliever”!  Please tell us what exact area code you represent? How long have you been making music?

I’m from New Britain, CT home of the (860).  Been doing music over 15 years now.

What influenced you to become a Hip Hop artist?  What were the main factors that got you into, quote on quote, “Underground Hip Hop”?!

I use to dj so one day someone inform all dj use to rap or dibble in dabble in it so I tried it and never look back since.  And I got into underground because your more freely to express your self with no limitation..no one telling you how to make your own music..just real and raw no gimmicks.

Your style and rhyme scheme is super raw, hard-hitting and ORIGINAL.  How important is it for your to stay ORIGINAL?  How would you describe your style?

It’s very important to stay orginal that how you will stand out if everyone sound the same like how today game is now it will be hard to tell who’s who.my style is organic I use everyday life situation from relationship struggling the good and the bad partying to politics and etc and consume all that and more that’s just the realness101 of things real life.

Tell us about the creative process for your new Mixtape “Realness101 vs The Pain Reliever!  Any interesting features on it?

This project was based on my Realness101 mixtape and my pain reliever mixtape and I didn’t want to continue it so I collide it a last project of both kind of the double side of me the real vs the pain..as far as tracklist these was the track list a few industry artist so I figure I put all the one that got the attention..far as feat just have my cousin seymour green and my young generation mike books and valentine my young artist im working with.

In 2017, who is on your own personal music rotation playlist!?  Any new artists you are listening to?

I’m still listening to stack bundles fabolous uncle murda and lil durk another ct artist on the map name anoyd. Currently as far as new I don’t like but if I had to answer say trippie red, pnb rock.

Any new projects and videos you are working on?  Planning on a tour anytime soon?

Trying push this mixtape for a while until my album releases next year TBA called 64-84-03 and other mixtape called D.I.D(Dumbing It Down) and The Kuddy pt 2 mixtape.

Out the box type question, If it came down to 1 ALBUM only, what underground Hip Hop album would you consider THE BEST OF ALL TIME!!!???……One 1 album you can choose.
