Q&A With New York/Miami Based Hip Hop Artist V.E.G.A

Congratulations on your latest Album release “Freedom”. We checked it out and we really enjoyed the fresh new sound & perspective on new Hip Hop coming out of New York and Miami. What motivated you to create this style of music. And how did you come up with your MC name V.E.G.A?

First off, thank you guys for having me. My motivation comes from love of hip-hop the love of rhyming putting metaphors together like the greats before me. V.E.G.A stands for Visualize Everything in Getting Aware..some woke shit.

How is the underground sound out in Miami right now?  From what I know, that is a huge club/HipHop scene that usually is Mainstream Commercial sound.

There’s a strip club scene that is more commercial sound like you mentioned and then there’s the conscious crowd usually in downtown Miami at open mics. Perfect balance tho. Its the Miami spirit.

How are you dealing with this whole nationwide lockdown due to Covid-19 Corona Virus?  Has this effected your music career in any way?

Yea man am stuck in house with family just vibin’ watching a whole butch of netflix but thank god I got a home studio so am working on my next project called “F U Money”. Only bad thing I can’t hit the streets or club and work these records. Soon

Who are you biggest underground influences?

MF Doom, Madlib, Griselda Alchemist

You recently dropped a new album Freedom  across all streaming platforms! Please give us some background on that project!? Could you tell me the inspiration behind the project and artwork?

The meaning of the Artwork is I need to get FREEDOM from this trap this “TrapHouse” if you will..escapeizm… coming from the hood we dont have a lot of opportunities so if feels like we in a strait jacket stuck in the “trap”.

How does social media play a role on pushing V.E.G.A music.

Social media is a great way to easily connect with ppl and the fans especially IG

What are a few different moves your making for 2020 when it comes to your music career?

Just keep dropping music 3 or 4 more albums by the end of the year. Like I said earlier “F U Money” is next on the list so am excited about that.

Our most popular question….What is your definition of “Underground Hip Hop”?

Underground hip hop is the belly of the beast the roots. Authentic and real no bull shit allowed.
