Danny Brown – Smokin & Drinkin

This is one of the harder hitting songs off of Danny Brown’s new album Old. As you might have have guessed, this song is about smokin’ & drinkin’. Both Danny’s flow and the instrumental are extremely aggressive and eccentric in the best ways possible. This is the type of “get hyped” song that’s definitely meant to be enjoyed unsober with the volume and bass cranked way up. It also really helps if you learn the lyrics so you can mentally follow along with Danny’s nimble flow, since you inherently won’t catch every word he’s saying the first few listens. Back in April this year when I saw Danny Brown live and met my second most famous hater Kitty Pryde I really wish this song existed. His concert was one of the wildest shows I’ve ever been to, and the 250 strong crowd was essentially one big drugged/drunk bustling moshpit. Danny delivers more energy on the mic than a vast majority of today’s current hip-hop artists, and Smokin & Drinkin exemplifies this fact.

“My theory is low end. Might jump on a quest, put that money in motion. So bitch we smokin and drink, drinkin’ and smoke. My nigga got tats on her face, sell me those cookies from Oakland, but not the kind that you eat. Smoke on a swisher sweet, and we smoke blunt after blunt after blunt after blunt after blunt after blunt after blunt! Check!”
