Syncope Bane – “Root Of Attraction” (Album Review)

Seattle is flooded with rising talent and a tidal wave is going to hit the majors in an unstoppable way in 2018. Apart of the new wave is Syncope Bane. The Seattle-native has been slowing rising to the awareness with his new track, “40 Wounds“. The new track is the promising lead single to Syncope Bane new project entitled, ‘Root of Attraction‘.

A 13-track project of Bane’s introduction to the surface of today’s music and the race to be the next big thing to come out of the North. The project carries a good stride of lyrical consistency. While overthinking on lyrics from time to time, Syncope is at his best on “Quasar”, “Greed”, and “Inside”.

Bane’s style is difficult to hear from time to time. About the games on one track, Bane quickly switches up on the games to the storytelling of explicit situations with twisted results. Bane’s tone remains the same the entire project. Sound more imitated than original often throughout the project, especially on the track, “Crooks”.

Bane impresses with his trend wordplay, speaking of his surroundings, we get a glimpse of what it is like in the inner-city of Seattle. The weather isn’t the only thing cold up north. The production throughout the project also keeps a slow-paced stride to tailor Bane’s style.

“Don’t Say” carries a strong sample and delivers Bane’s best lyrical abilities to-date as the strongest cut on the entire project.

The attraction to this project is short-lived as production carries a majority of the album but the lyricism never seems to perfectly equal out. Always missing witty, clever, catchy punchlines at the climax of the project. It’s more practical than spectacular in its entirety. But, with a bit of fine tuning, Syncope Bane shows a lot of promise. Wordplay is purified; however, just showing a lot of scars from trial and error.

Diagnosis, exercise to push pass the creative ceiling and Bane will be a true force to be reckoned with in Hip-Hop. Interesting to see what comes next from the act’s following effort.
