Clap, Snap, Rock is a fusion of Blacc El and Kriswontwo’s stylistic contrast. Blacc El 90’s-based hiphop lyrics mixed with Kriswontwo’s soul-acid-Jazz sound. Together they’ve added African elements and found middle-ground which is what you hear on the EP.
The sound is tight yet offbeat, the rap is offbeat yet tight.
The project is constructed to keep the rhythm of the listener guessing and never at ease. Thereby taking it back to the basic elements of rhythm (Clap, Snap, Rock) and pushing them to their limit and beyond.
The Duo have also acted as warm up for Quadron and Shaka Loveless.
Clap, Snap Rock is a melodic, positive, African intoned hip-hop energy bomb of five numbers, published 16 September at Per Vers’ label Mixed Ape Music.
The Copenhagen based producer Kriswontwo is a breath of fresh air to music today His production style is very hard to define because of the amount of freedom and rawness he demands his music to contain. It’s defining to his style that he is trying new things all the time. In the beginning of the year he got sent to Los Angeles by the Red Bull Music Academy, and after an intense week he produced a whole EP with the hiphop-avantgarde artist Georgia Anne Muldrow. When the EP comes out this fall, by the L.A. based label SomeOthaship, it will be Kriswontwos fifth EP in 12 months!
