NY, NY, Upcoming hip-hop artist, Charlie Scott’s music is fueled with hopeful and inspirational lyrics about his battle with drug addiction and his triumphant recovery. His recently released mixtape, Lyrical Therapy, openly and honestly addresses universal life challenges and his quest to empower others. “I’m a champion, recovering from drugs and I’m nothing but grateful, so it’s nothing but love.” Scott writes victoriously in his song, Venting.
Writing poetry since the age of twelve, during his recovery process at a rehabilitation center, the young artist, combined his passion for words with rhythmic beats and discovered hip-hop as an outlet to communicate and encourage. The son of hearing impaired parents, Scott, 22, was born and raised in Whitestone, Queens, and is currently majoring in Psychology. He is a frequent performer at the iconic Nuyorican Poet’s Cafe and The Inspired Word created by Mike Geffner. Scott is also set to tour local rehabilitation facilities, carrying a powerful message to the youth and other individuals in recovery.
“My goal is to give recovering addicts a young role model that they can relate to. My meaningful lyrics, original quotes and stories are tactically designed to adjust the listener’s perception, positively. Hip Hop is my escape, and that’s a whole lot healthier than my last one,” said Scott.
