He admits that he never actually went to an actual studio untill he was 15 years old. ” A few of my friends and I would buy like 3 or 4 cd’s filled with different types of beats, we would get a blank cassette tape, and just record like that .Off the top. Everything was recorded off the top of my head on a boom box untill we was like 14,15 years old. Good quality and actual studio sessions came later”. After graduating high school,Rob started to record at a local studio where a few pther5 artist would record their respected projects as well, and in 2009, Robert (while then under the moniker) “Yung Rob” released his debut mixtape “Under Construction”. He feels that he is indeed the definition of “Real Hip Hop”, but he also insist that he is not a rapper. “I prefer the term “Recording artist”. I think that i can do so much more then just rap, ya know? I honestly believe that i can hop on any beat, and talk about any subject. Thats just what my job is. I dont want to be known as just a rapper, I’d much rather go down in history as an artist”
