Shamanix – born Matt Toussaint in Upstate NY – is a trained shaman and lyricist who fuses the power of hip hop and the ancient art of shamanism. Drawn to hip hop as a vehicle for artful and transformative expression, Shamanix has been crafting since 2001. After following a spiritual vision that led him to the Amazon in 2008, he began formally training under the guidance of a master shaman. For him, the Hip Hop-Shaman connection was immediate, and Shamanix was born. Now hailing from Denver CO, his first project entitled “Initiation” was released in April 2014.
