Cynthia Gonzalez Espinos

Tell us a little about yourself. Where you are from? How long have you been making Hip Hop?

J Nez, Cayman’s entertainer was born Jasen Andre Campbell in Grand Cayman. To Sandra Campbell and Michael Francis.  J Nez grow up with music in his blood. J Nez said that his grandmother Rachel Edmondson, took him to church religiously every Sunday where he became a lover of the drums and was given the name “drummer boy” because of his skillful playing at the age of seven (7). At the age of 16 J Nez was introduced to rapping and the making of songs, through the influence of his friends, that’s he wrote his first verse to a local beat called “Be Easy”

What influences you in making Hip Hop?

My inspiration steams from the strong women in my life my grandmother (Rachel Edmondson) and my mother (Sandra Rowe), their experiences gave me the drive to strive harder than ever. There knowledge and experiences not only guide me as an entertainer but as an entrepreneur…  My musical inspiration, steams from cultural artist such as Bob Marley, Luciano, Bugu Banton, Damian Marley. My hip hop inspiration steam from heavy Hitters such as Jay-Z, the irreplaceable The Notorious B.I.G. and the supreme talented composer, producer, and song writer R.Kelly just to name a few.

Describe your music, and what separates you from other MCs?

My flow as an artist is versatile. From my musical inspiration it allows me to create different styles in my music.

Who have you collaborated with? Who would you like to collab with in the near future?

If I had to choose one major collaboration with an artist right now, I would go with Lil Wayne. I came up listening to Cashmoney Records and I seen the transformation he made from being young star to the CEO of Young Money Entertainment.

Your definition of “Underground Hip Hop”?

Underground Hip Hop to me is any music that is not main stream e.g. independent artist. The Underground” also refers to the community of musicians, fans and others that support non-commercial, or independent music.

Production wise, who are your influences? Who does your production? And who would you like to work with?

Timberland & Pharrell influence me to make great music, their production are timeless. If you listen to their music from the 90’s to date, it sounds like the tracks was made yesterday.

I have a few producers that I work with Kustoms & M-Lito just to name a few.

Any current or future projects you are promoting?

I’m in the process of finalizing my project and I’m looking to release it in the 2014 summer.

Can you give us a brief description of the creative process of WHAT IM ON Music Video?

My new video ‘What I’m On’ was directed by Mercy Hope and Gifted Minds. It’s a song that everyone can relate to, not everyone has the same views or opinions about working but everyone shares the same views about their gratuity “Cash moves everything around me” and this song speaks to me being focus on the business level.

I want to encourage my fans and supporters to take a listen to the song and I guarantee you can relate to it.
