“MOODLIFE” Kj Rogers & SageInfinite (New York) – Q&A Interview

MoodLife'

Tell us a little about yourself. Where you are from? How long have you been making Hip Hop?

SageInfinite: “from New Jersey originally from Newark I’ve been making hip-hop seriously since about 2003.”

What influences you in making Hip Hop?

SageInfinite: “My influence for making hip-hop is purely imagery. Creating movie scenes and visuals through lyrics. I feel like a lot of artists stick to reality or what is perceived as reality and are sort of confined to it. I like to go beyond it at times.”

Describe your music, and what separates you from other MCs?

SageInfinite: “I feel like my music is just visual. A motion picture for your mind. I feel like I can be whatever I want to be when I rhyme, tell any story. If I want to be James Bond in a song, I’ll do that. I don’t feel like I have to be confined to my own reality. Film directors and writers didn’t have to necessarily experience the art that they are creating, so why should an mcee? I feel like the music has advanced beyond that. I think that’s what separates me from other mc’s. I just don’t confine myself to this so called reality or what I think people want to hear. I create what I feel and what I think is fly. Honestly though, I think it’s up to the listener to decide what separates me from other artists.”

Who have you collaborated with? Who would you like to collab with in the near future?

SageInfinite: “I’ve just been collaborating with cats that I gel with and have personal relationships with. Moodlife, QS and Sho out of Long Island(production), Outbreak(The Perfect Team) out of Atl(Production), Rob D.(Michigan), and a few emcees that I know personally, P-Hill The Genesis being the most frequent(Long Island).I’d really like to work with anyone I can vibe with. It’s gotta be authentic.”

Your definition of “Underground Hip Hop”?

SageInfinite: “My definition of “Underground Hip-Hop” is just Hip-Hop you can’t find everywhere. You have to look for it. It just doesn’t have a “commercial” or “pop” sound. I really felt Nas when        he said “Hip-Hop Was Dead”, because it was mostly found underground.”

Production wise, who are your influences? Who does your production? And who would you like to work with?

Kj rogers: “My influence run down the line from Quincy Jones, Ryan leslie, Legend da Beastlaya and also Pharell Williams.”

Any current or future projects you are promoting?

Kj Rogers: “I’m currently promoting the recent projects that have been released “Deep” and “It’s my life” as well as the new projects that are soon to be announced”

Can you give us a brief description of the creative process of “It’s My Life”?

Kj Rogers: “It’s my life was an idea to show our audience a different side us and to send a message. The process was a bit long on how we were going to pull it off but with the constancy everything turned out well”
