Tay-G (Atlanta, GA) – Q&A Interview

Tell us a little about yourself. Where you are from? How long have you been making Hip Hop?

Born and raised in Columbus Ohio. I began my path of music at the age 13 when Music was more than just a Hot Beat. Music became my escape when I wanted to get away.

What influences you in making Hip Hop?

The Culture and Realism of Hip Hop inspired me to create music. The entire 90s era of music was such an influential part of who I am as an Artist, and the Foundation from which I create.  I remember growing up watching BET seeing the music videos of various artist saying to myself that’s going to be me. That’s what I wanna be an entertainer!

What made you take music from a hobby, to a future career?

When I lost my older brother at the age of 16 I deeply indulged myself into my music. It became my mode of Serenity in my time of Sorrow. Coupled with the fact that I knew

I was good at it; and It was a passion of mine that I really wanted to pursue. I always could sing, dance and rap so why not go for it.

Who have you collaborated with? Who would like to collab with in the near future?

My Indie Collabs have been Crazy, Elite Noel, Paris Bennett, Venus, and Many Others. Much Love to the Indies who Support other Indies. I’d like to work with Mary J Blige, Diddy, Jay-Z, Lil Kim, Rick Ross, Jordan Antonia, and Jhene Aiko to name a few.

Your definition of “Underground Hip Hop”?

To me Underground Hip Hop is: Great music as well as an artists that are not main stream but has the streets on lock and everyone knows about em.

Production wise, who are your influences? Who does your production, and who would you like to work with?

My influences are Notorious BIG, Diddy, Jay-Z, Mary J Blige, Lauryn Hill, Missy Elliot. Most or my Productions are done In House by my fam Reese. He is def a Genius in the Studio.

Any current or future projects you are promoting?

Now or Never is the Current MixTape and it is def making some noise. I just got back in the Studio and plan to drop some new fyre for the summer.
