ThirdEye – Q&A Interview

ThirdEyePic

Tell us a little about yourself. Where you are from? How long have you been making Hip Hop?

Third Eye is a hip hop duo composed of fraternal twins, Divine and Love. We love hip hop music. We love creating music. We are from Brew City aka Miltown aka the Illmil (Milwaukee, WI). We formed our group in 2011.

What influences you in making Hip Hop?

The thing that inspires or influences us to make hip hop music is information. We want to share information, ideas, opinions and experiences. One of the ways we do that is through music. We want to add value to the hip hop culture.

Describe your music, and what separates you from other MCs?

Our music incorporates a plethora of influences from underground to mainstream. Our music is concept driven, braggadocius at times and powered by production styles we admire. Our aim is to make music that makes people feel good and that people relate to but we also to stimulate and spark the mind.

What separates us is our story and our experiences. We are the only male female duo out right now, possibly ever. Has there ever been a male female rap duo in hip hop? Probably not, right? We are not gangsters. We are not criminals. We are civilized. We value family and hard work. We value hip hop culture and want to add value to it.

Who have you collaborated with? Who would you like to collab with in the near future?

So far we have kept it in the family with Born Brothaz from our hometown Milwaukee. They are featured on the album “Let Em See” track 3 titled “Get It”. In the near future, we would like to collaborate with BIG KRIT and J.Cole.

Your definition of “Underground Hip Hop”?

Bubbling under the surface on the verge of explosion.

Production wise, who are your influences? Who does your production?  And who would you like to work with?

Our influences or those we admire are Kanye, No ID, Salaam Remi, Just Blaze and Havoc. We worked with a variety of producers from the Midwest and East Coast on Let Em See. We would like to work with all the producers mentioned above.

Any current or future projects you are promoting?

Currently, all our energy is being expended on the current album “Let Em See” which is available right now on our website at www.themightythirdeye.com. We focusing heavily on building a fan base right now. People can catch us in Baltimore and the DMV performing any and everywhere we can.

Can you give us a brief description of the creative process of Let Em See LP? Also/ what was the idea or concept description about your Album Art Cover.

It all began with the first track “Do What You Gotta Do”. That song began as a concept. We never intended to make an album it just turned into that. Then the album turned into the formation of our group. While we made this album, Divine was in Milwaukee and I was in Baltimore. We would record in our respective studios and I would travel back to Milwaukee in the summer to record with him. It took us approximately a year and a half to finish the album.

The album artwork was simple. We wanted to showcase our faces, since we are twins. We wanted to utilize the black and white color scheme for a clean, simple yet bold look. A vast majority of people we know were not aware of our plans to be recording artists. The album title “Let Em See” would be our introduction to the world as artists and reintroduction to those who knew us but had never heard us rap.

Where can we find your music and info?
