Cloak The Scribe – “Diamond Clear” Prod. By Cloud 9 (Single Review)
Chicago maybe mostly known for Michael Jordan, Chance the Rapper, and Chi-Iraq; however, the Windy City is also world renounced for it’s foot work dance moves. Looking to keep the party going, city native Cloak the Scribe grabs producer Cloud 9 to unveil a new swagged out party track titled, “Diamond Clear”.
A motivational effort from Cloak, the song expresses his progression for the finer things in life through faith, and several slick punchlines for the haters trying to kill his vibe. Referencing his flow and style as flawless, incredible, and shine bright as a diamond. Cloak even refers to himself as the greatest of all-time on the track based on his wordplay. But does he have the potential to be is the question?
Lyrically, “Diamond Clear” is a very clever song, built for general public with a positive message and a subliminal religious message rolled into one. A religious song with out the christian rap title attached to it, the best type of song you can have for an up-and-coming artist trying to achieve mainstream success while not scarfing their beliefs to do it. It’s witty how Cloak lived up to his name on the track with back and forth references about keeping the faith and trendy artifacts like beautiful women, money, and flyest clothes. All while keep a hypnotizing vibe to his lyrics that made your head nod and feet move to the infectious beat.
The production on the single is a high-speed dance number. Connected by the simple one-two, one-two-three drum pattern, the productions mixture of handclaps and continuous siren creates a wide variety of choreographed routines ready to step up the dance floor. While it shows signs of annoyance, it maintains a momentum that is catchy and creative for body movement. Perfect for a city whom prides itself on foot work.

Standard song structure, “Diamond Clear” is a well-balanced party song. While the production and hook delivers a dance vibe that can ring off in the club, the lyrics deliver that street element and in your face attitude that will have the goons two stepping in the party. Carries all the qualities of a radio single, Cloak The Scribe is fun for the whole family with easy listening, high energy, and simplistic hook.
The song’s niche is how catchy it is, you will find yourself repeating the track immediately. A track that grows on you the more you hear it. Simply, a hit.
