Chance the Rapper, Lil Durk, Vic Mensa, the list goes on and on for today’s hottest talent coming out of Illinois and moving to the top of the world. Lyrically, Lazy E sells the track with it’s sing-a-long motivational melody and commercial appeal. Engulfed in various ranges of vocals, Lazy E is all over the track with highs and lows in both the hook and body. Lazy has an acute sound that is friendly on the ear and easy listening for the airwaves. “M.O.T.W” is the track’s highlight, fulfilling it’s purpose of being catchy track to quickly become a fan of Lazy E.

Comp_Keyz’s production on the track lacks detail, basic three layers of kick, mild keys, and very little bass. Mid-tempo, it does it’s job setting the mood for Lazy’s multi-layered vocals. While simple, the production is far from lackluster. Synching with Lazy E sound perfectly, providing more depth to the songs lyricism. Interestingly, simplicity always makes for hit songs, especially in today’s Hip-Hop. Matching “M.O.T.W” sing-a-long vibe, the song’s production is sufficiently effective for the purpose of the single.

“M.O.T.W.” is exceptional; however, could still use some polishing on both the wordplay and sound. Lazy E is a new artist that provides potential to be a well-known artist on the mainstream platform with a filling of artistic pot holes in the coming tracks. Right now, Lazy is definitely a sound that can grow on you with a bit more exposure. With Illinois harboring so many big names in today’s music, Lazy E attraction is natural to the mainstream thanks to the longevity that has been established from artists in the past like Chief Keef, Lil Durk, and more.
