Earl Sweatshirt – Knight (ft. Domo Genesis)

I’ve been listening to Earl’s new album Doris (just leaked) for a large portion of today. I had high expectations for this album, and it delivered on most aspects. It’s a great album, but there are some very lackluster tracks that hold back this sophomore album’s full potential. Knight is my second favorite song off it, Chum being my favorite. I’ve never heard a song quite like this before. If you notice, at the beginning of Earl and Domo’s parts they start off sounding normal, and by the end their voices are so deep and slow the crooning instrumental is altered to keep pace. This works extremely well since it successfully keeps their lyrical tones dynamic and fresh throughout the entire song. I would also like to point out that Domo Genesis is bringing more to the table than ever. He’s improved so much as an artist over the last couple years it’s pretty mindblowing. Also, in case you’re interested, I’ve already reviewed Hive and Whoa, which are some of my other favorite songs you’ll find on Doris.

“I’d like to send a shout to the fathers that didn’t raise us. To every hoe who hated, now unable to say much.”
