Rabbit Rashad, where are you originally from? How long have you been making Hip Hop?
New Orleans, LA. I recorded for the first time at 13, on one of those old computer chat microphones with the stand and have been making Hip Hop ever since.-Rabbit Rashad, where are you originally from? How long have you been making Hip Hop?
Are you signed, or an indie artist? Keeping it indie for the future?
I’m independent, and while I’m not opposed to working with a label in the future if it makes sense for everyone involved, for the foreseeable future I plan to stay independent.
Just released the second single and video “Siren Song” off the new project? How are fans responding to the video?
I’ve been getting a lot of love for it, but I mean how can you not love pretty faces and heavy bass? And while, it’s a fun track, there’s story to it too. And in my perfect world, everyone would listen to the entire project to get the entire story, and love that even more.
Talking about the new project, “Guns & Roses”, when is it set to release? Anything special about the project you want to share with us.
May, 24th. My birthday! The whole project is special. It took me 5 years to put it together. I’ve been through a mixtape and an album while making this project, and I think it shows in the final product.
Any collaborations on the new project? (Beats, mixing, vocals)
It was actually pretty important to me that I keep the features to a minimum on the project. I wanted it to be a true reflection of me, my experiences, and my perspectives. There are no guest verses, but I have a few hooks from some very talented singers. Major shout out to Jason Aro, Domonique Dajeraé, and Angie Joelle. Also Micaela Moné really blessed me with the intro. The production was a collaborative effort handled in full by Jason Aro of Kloudnine Music and myself. Also my Dad. He passed away in February, but before he did, I was able to get him to play guitar on the project, and I’m incredibly thankful for that.
Who can you say influenced you in the creation of the project? Are there any similar sounds, or are your bringing in a whole new style of music to this one?
Life is my biggest influence. This project is my poetry of life, the good and the bad, hence the title (Guns & Roses). And growing up, my dad would play Blues music, and it shows in my affinity for guitar in my production. Put all that in a pot and cook it and you have the finished project.
Hightlight question!!! What’s your definition of Underground Hip Hop?
I define it as a lifestyle more so than music. It represents the people who roll their sleeves up and get their hands dirty and it creates some of the most grounded and down to Earth music out of that. It’s a hard workers’ soundtrack. At least it is in my opinion.
What does the rest of 2015 hold for Rabbit Rashad?
