King Deezy – Q&A Interview
Tell us a little about yourself. Where are you from? How long have you been making Hip Hop?
I was born and raised in Dallas, TX. I grew up in Southside of Dallas. I’m a simple kind of guy. I love spending time with my kids, doing music, and watching my Cowboys dominate the NFL. I’ve been doing music since the age of 14 freestyling during lunch and around the neighborhood with my homies.
What influences you in making Hip Hop?
My kids, the passion of music, and untold stories. I want my kids to have a different life than I had. I want to be able to give them the world. I love Hip Hop from start to finish. There are so many silent voices and that’s where music comes in. We, artist, are the voice of the people. We vocalize their pain, struggles, and triumphs.
Describe your music, and what separates you from other MCs?
With my style of Music you’re going to get a versatile feel of King Deezy as a song writer I never wanted to be labeled as one-dimensional. I want to be able to touch numerous of crowds. I can give you street music, happy music, bedroom music, painful music, and club bangers. I’m an all-around artist.
What separates me from other MC’s?
Have you listened to the radio lately? All jokes aside though, my love and passion for Hip Hop is what sets me apart. I’m not making music just to make it. I’m no rapper, I’m an artist. It is my job to be a voice for my people. It doesn’t matter if its anger, joy, pain, love, or just want to have fun. It is my job as the artist to vocalize that feeling into my music.
Who have you collaborated with? Who would you like to collab with in the near future?
As of right now, I’ve collaborated with talented artist from Dallas, TX such as: Sleepy, AGFO Music Group, Ad Smoove, Plexxx, Tree Dogg & Kaymak.
I look forward to the day I get a call from my favorite Industry artist Lil Boosie. That is a day I’m waiting for. Also, I want to work with Twista, Ludacris, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Jay Z, Bun B, Trina, and Iggy as well.
Your definition of “Underground Hip Hop”?
Underground Hip Hop to me is music that is made to sustain. It is music that I have to listen to on an internet radio station and/or self-promotion from the artist. Underground Hip Hop paints a picture and tells a story. That’s what Underground Hip Hop is to me. It’s what the industry lacks.
Production wise, who are your influences? Who does your production?
Production wise my influences are Dr. Dre, Timberland, Mouse on the track, Mike Will made it, DJ Khaled, Swiss Beats, and DJ Mustard just to name a few. I’ve had production done by a few. Dez of Baker man beats, Simmy Automatik, and Yung X Clusive are some of the producers I’ve had the pleasure to work with.
And who would you like to work with?
It would be my pleasure to work with Mouse, Dr. Dre, Rick Rubin, Diddy, & Mike Will Made It, Big Krit, and Yung Chop.
Any current or future projects you are promoting?
Yes I’m currently focused on pushing my new single, “IMMA EAT”. Also, I’m working on my mixtape, “King Off His Throne” so definitely be on the lookout for that.
Can you give us a brief description of the creative process of your recent video IMMA EAT?
This was my last video before I left Dallas for Jacksonville. I wanted my friends and family to be a part of this project. Thus J-Dub from Sik Media and I came up with the concept to have my friends and family to be a part of this project and to have a going away cookout for me moving to Jacksonville. We pulled out the grill and camera and had some fun. Imma Eat isn’t just for my family and friends; it’s for the whole city of Dallas. I want to motivate my whole city to chase their dreams and goals. Just eat!
