Tell us a little about yourself. Where you are from? How long have you been making Hip Hop?
D.Hagood and DC the Savage are two 21-year-old emcees from Anchorage, Alaska. DC the Savage has been making Hip Hop for four years while D.Hagood has been making music for 5 years.
What influences you in making Hip Hop?
DC the Savage is influenced by illustrating the struggle that is experienced amongst himself, peers, and family. D.Hagood is influenced by the impact of influencing others to strive for what they love to do. Both emcees believe in the aspect of transforming “nothing into something.” This correlates from music, to goals, and being financially stable.
Describe your music, and what separates you from other MCs?
If the simple fact that D.Hagood and DC the Savage are from Alaska wasn’t enough to separate them from other artists then how about their motives. Both strive to make real music that can impact individuals across the globe while simultaneously giving incite to a place most are oblivious to.
Who have you collaborated with? Who would like to collab with in the near future?
The two MCs have collaborated with various aspiring artists from Alaska such as, Josh Boots, D-Money, Darius, Miles Scott, Deezy, Nate Green, Francis Noceda, Keezy and a few others.
Your definition of “Underground Hip Hop”?
We define “Underground Hip Hop” as the “best known, unknown” which idealizes the concept of undiscovered talent. Various artists are creating phenomenal work that gets discovered by others via word of mouth, blog sites, and communities.
Production wise, who are your influences? Who does your production, and who would you like to work with?
We are influenced by and would love to work with J.Dilla (R.I.P), Swizz beatz, Big K.R.I.T, J.Cole and 9th wonder if the opportunity were to present itself.
Any current or future projects you are promoting?
DC the Savage is promoting his newest mixtape “Savajazz Music” that infuses a Jazz-based sound with Hip Hop to give his perspective of life. He and D.Hagood are working on a duo mixtape that is expected to be released January, 2014. Stay updated with both artists for more details.
