Andre Footz – “Long Way From The Trap” (Album Review)

Texas Andre Footz is a well-known newcomer with his futuristic melodies filled with 90s references. Many might be familiar with Andre Footz from his collaboration with Supaman (Your Body) and Flow Dolla Runnitup (Intercashtional). Following his latest single release, “Live N Learn”, Andre takes fans on a futuristic ride through his world in the properly-titled new album, Long Way From The Trap.

11-track trafficking-meets-space age pimpin’ voyage. Andre holds down the body of work solo as he pitches and serves the listener with supplements of his based on a true story. Andre Footz sound carries a hint of Dirty South melody wrapped around a live from the streets testimony.

Production on the album is that fan-favorite Texas slow sound. Footz has a great ear when it comes to beat selection. The album’s cinematic moments climax sonically on tracks like “Long Way from the Trap”, “The Man”, and “Trap Phone”. Backed by a sound that is fresh out the mud after a hurricane refreshing.

Now lyrically, Andre sticks to riding the beat with cliché wordplay that complete an intriguing vibe. While he doesn’t stretch for conscious approval, Andre is a student of the commercial efforts of making music. Catering to ladies, in-crowd, and familiar Texas natives, Andre makes a body of work that is radio friendly ready. None of the tracks are too explicit or sensual but are catchy and a high replay value for the particular moods. Fluent in the pimp talk (“Fun Tonight”) and stick talk (“Get To The Money”), it’s unique for a newcomer to have found their tone this early in their career.

Long Way From The Trap is initially appealing and often catchy, it reveals itself relatively quickly as a shallow record made by a new trapper, stocked with brand names and old ideas, signifying nothing. New listeners will be exploring a new sound of trap music that is unique to the ear buds.

This is a must hear, mission accomplished Andre.
