The often controversial “No-Fi King,” Speed on the Beat, returns with his new single “Thanatos (Stories Through Music).” The “Baltimore-born, College Park-raised” Speed often employs sample-based instrumentals and an “no-fi” production style a la J Dilla to grittily tell his story, one of redemption and self-discovery. The oft-brutal, but intentionally so, audio quality is a point of conversation when speaking of Speed. However, this time around, Speed distances himself from his comfort zone to create a track that illustrates his growth since returning to recording music in 2012. “Thanatos (Stories Through Music)” is Speed’s first single from the upcoming Death of the King album, which is slated for an August 2014 release
