ZRETICULI – Q&A Interview

ZETΔRΞTICULI

Tell us a little about yourself. Where are you from? How long have you been involved in Hip Hop?

Here’s Z from the constellation of Zreticuli.  I came from another galaxy, than I got intergalactical skillz.  I have been fascinated by the incredible power of terrestrial black music, that’s why I’ve been on your planet for over 12 years.  Now I’m planning to come back home, bringing human emotional music to the opposite side of the universe.

What influences you in making Beats?

On my planet the real music is dead.  We got music for sure, but it’s programmed by the system to control human mind. Nobody is aware of this…too fuckin many centuries of brainwashing caused this situation.  What drives me to make beats is the hope that a music rich in sentiment can wake up my sleeping brothers.

Describe your music, and what separates you from other Producer’s?

The music I make is full of pathos, born from a need to externalize feelings that reach the listener through the ether.

If the real revolution starts in every single mind, this music can be helpful for a better universe.  Now that the musical situation on your planet is increasingly similar to that on my own, this is what differentiates me from the very majority of producer.

Who have you collaborated with? Who would you like to collab with in the near future?

I collaborated with a lot of human emcee all over the world (your world, not mine) but Instrumental Control is the first official project and it’s completely self-made, from the creative process to the mix and the master.  In the future I’d like to collaborate with a lot of musicians because I will never be able to play some instruments as I need.

If I have to tell you a producer name, I’d like to collaborate with Thriftrworks.  I think he comes from a galaxy near mine, we’re neighbors!

Your definition of “Underground Hip Hop”?

Underground is a term created to identify that kind of music that have no support by big labels or major.

Underground doesn’t mean dope, you can find a lot of shitty music in this genre, exactly like u can find some dope tracks in the mainstream.

The only important thing is to put the soul in everything u do.

Production wise, who are your influences? And who would you like to work with?

My music influences are not what you would expect to read on a hip hop blog.

Usually rappers are very obtuse about the music that is not hip hop.

I’m a real music lover and I can find positive and negative aspects in anything listening.

An important icon that every beatmaker would know is Mike Oldfield…perhaps the first beatmaker as I understand it. In “TUBULAR BELLS”, an album from 1973, he played over 20 instruments!

Any current or future projects you are promoting?

I have some difficulty pronouncing your phonemes (fuckin zetareticulians telepathy) but I’m a rapper too.

I’m having a lot of success with an interactive ep, whose particularity is to allow the listener to interact in the creative process of the album.

Can you give us a brief description of the creative process on INSTRUMENTAL CONTROL?

Well…in over 12 years producing I understood that to be fresh, a beatmaker have always to change his processing method.

Than sometimes I start from a good synth patch or a sample, sometimes I play real instruments (I would like to play everything like mike oldfield eheh).

Each instrument has its own frequency range and it is important to leave the right space for each one.

Shhhh…This is the secret for a dope mix!!

Where can we find your music and info?
